Henry Ford Academy Elementary
Detroit, MI
Detroit’s oldest Arts and Crafts-style school building property is on the Register of Historic Properties. The original service area was redesigned as the principal entry/control point with an interior multi-story atrium-like student reception/commons. The existing hallways were preserved and basement mechanical spaces were liberated to provide admin space. The auditorium was restored and a former library was adapted for student dining. A functional Multi-Purpose Room was designed to allow controlled access and fit with the style of the existing building.
