Raqueeb Albaari, AIA, Director of Sustainable Design
Raqueeb is a results-driven, versatile Principal with experience in both design and construction.  Joining RDG in May 2011 with an extensive background in complete project management-from planning, design to closeout, Raqueeb will lead sustainable design recommendations for all projects.

He has more than 20 years of hands-on involvement in team management and collaboration, and strong experience in project definition and scope, budget and schedule development. Prior to joining RDG, Raqueeb served as Project Executive/Senior Project Manager at Searas International in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; Senior Project Manager for A1 Construction in Washington, DC; Senior Design Manager/Senior Associate for AECOM in Detroit, MI; and Principal/Design Manager/Construction Administration at Albaari and Associates in Miami Florida.

A seasoned leader of people, teams and processes, Raqueeb uses his flexibility and ability to work well with culturally diverse organizations on major programs in education at all levels.  His program and project management experience spans major planning, design, construction management and sustainable design projects. He has a reputation for building and leading high-performance teams from studio size to inter-organizational teams involved with complex tasks.

For five years Raqueeb successfully led staff and consultant teams as Senior Design Manager of a $1.5 Billion Bond Plan for one of the largest school districts in the country.  This included 23 new schools and 263 existing schools for Detroit Public Schools.  Under his supervision, LEED certifications were attained for several signature projects.  He is particularly skilled at team forming and collaborating; understanding and defining problems; developing and evaluating options; and identifying innovative and cost effective solutions to deliver projects on time and under budget.
